Traditions reimagined the muzzleloader yet again with the NitroBolt® — the first Firestick-capable bolt-action muzzleloader. If you haven’t heard of the Federal Premium® Firestick™ system, it is an encapsulated powder charge in a polymer case. The user loads their primer into the Firestick for fast and effortless loading. The Firestick eliminates some of the issues with traditional powder charges thanks to its polymer case. No more worrying about moisture, difficult cleaning, inconsistent loads, accuracy or safety issues. You can also remove an unfired charge from the breech if necessary.
With the NitroBolt®, the bolt can be removed easily for a simpler cleaning process. The removable bolt allows you to see down the barrel to ensure proper cleaning. The Firestick™ is loaded with Hodgdon® Triple 8 powder. The Hodgdon® Triple 8 powder burns very efficiently and greatly reduces the amount of unburnt powder and residue in the NitroBolt®. Due to powder being in the capsule, there is no powder touching and igniting directly inside of the barrel. The bullet seats on the shelf, not on top of powder. All this means the FireStick™ system generally reduces the traditional “powder ring” black powder shooters have come to recognize in the barrel after repeated firings. A powder ring left unclean can lead to barrel corrosion. With the Firestick, there is less or no powder ring to clean, so risk of barrel corrosion is also less. Hodgdon® Triple 8 is not designed for water-based clean-up. Using a cleaning solvent provides an effective and efficient job cleaning. Additionally, since the bolt can be disassembled and cleaned within minutes, this makes cleaning the NitroBolt® very simple.
The NitroBolt® comes with multiple options to customize your setup, including an adjustable cheek piece and an adjustable length of pull for different ages and sizes of hunters. The adjustable length of pull is also convenient depending on the time of season and how much clothing you are wearing. You can also attach a muzzle break to your muzzleloader that will divert smoke to the side, so you can more easily track game after the shot. The muzzle break will reduce recoil as well.
