Could You Be An Inadvertent Violator?

Gary Kinsland of Louisiana found himself in a terrible situation during a hunting trip back in 2009 on a state wildlife management area.

Kinsland shot two black bears after mistaking them for a feral hogs. Black bears are protected in Louisiana so when he walked up to the animals, he was aghast and dismayed. Kinsland is an experienced hunter and certified instructor.

Upon realizing his mistake he had a choice to make, too: Report himself to state officials and possibly face stiff penalties, or walk away and hope no one associated him with the situation or discovered who did it.
