Indiana Late Season Urban Deer Zone Checks

With the archery and late antlerless firearms season closing Jan. 6, the only deer hunting that will be legally allowed in the state from Jan. 7-31 will be in Urban Deer Zones.

These urban deer zones will be for Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, Lafayette, Michigan City and Warsaw, as well as all of Lake and Porter counties. Please refer to the Indiana Hunting & Trapping Guide for details on each zone.

Check stations outside of these urban deer zones will be closed after the archery and antlerless firearms seasons close. This will allow DFW staff to collect and begin entering deer harvest data from most of the state. The check stations in the following counties will remain open through the urban deer zone season to accommodate urban deer zone hunters:

Allen, Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Kosciusko, Lake, La Porte, Marion, Porter, Shelby, Tippecanoe and Vanderburgh.

Hunters will also continue to have the option to check their game in online at Checkingame.dnr.in.gov or by phone by dialing 1-800-419-1326. A $3 fee applies for individuals that choose to use the phone in system.
