Well shotgun season here in Iowa was successful, but not what I hoped it would be.  After hunting with a group for a couple days we only managed to shoot a few does and two bucks.  After having many encounters with big bucks, we could not seal the deal.  In a way I’m kind of glad we didn’t kill all the big bucks we seen because now I can hunt them during late muzzleloader.  I have high hopes of getting a crack at one of the monarch bucks.  Hope the weather cools off and hopefully the deer start pounding food sources.
