2 Wisconsin Bucks Look Strikingly Similar

Did you see the 49-pointer? An incredible buck with headgear exceeding 312 total inches was on display recently at the Open Season Deer and Turkey Expo in Wisconsin Dells. When placed side-by-side with an image of an alleged pen-raised Wisconsin buck, the similarities are striking.

The Open Season Expo was held in Wisconsin Dells March 27-29, 2025. The buck mount was displayed in a room full of trophies measured by the Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club. Signage next to the mount indicated the rack grossed 312-1/8 inches and netted 306-4/8. It also indicated the buck had been taken during a muzzleloader season. It did not state what year. Wisconsin’s muzzleloader season in 2024 ran from Dec. 2-11.

At this time, Deer & Deer Hunting is not listing the name of the person who submitted the rack for scoring.

Today, Deer & Deer Hunting learned of the similar buck that was allegedly raised in a state-

licensed deer farm in south-central Wisconsin. That buck reportedly died in captivity two or three years ago.
