Step 13: Select the Right Kind of Vane Glue

Vane glue is the key to good arrows. Bad or cheap glue will result in re-fletching jobs almost immediately. Buy and use fresh glue. Many companies, including Bohning, make really good archery glues, but they aren’t super easy to get your hands on if you don’t live near an archery shop. Be wary of box store glues that have been sitting on the shelf for a long time. These glues don’t hold up that well. If you’re in a bind, you can use Super Glue. Gorilla® offers the regular blue-label stuff, and it works in a pinch. If you have the time, however, go online and order vane-specific glue directly from one of the archery companies. You’ll be glad you did.
