Submission Guidelines
As the masthead implies, this is a specialized magazine devoted to deer and deer hunting (with a strict emphasis on white-tailed deer). Readers include a cross-section of the deer hunting population: individuals who hunt with bow, gun or camera.
The editorial content of the magazine focuses on white-tailed deer biology and behavior, management principles and practices, habitat requirements, natural history of deer, hunting techniques and hunting ethics. We also publish a wide range of “how-to” articles designed to help hunters locate and get close to deer at all times of the year. Most of our readership consists of three-season hunters (bow, centerfire/shotgun and muzzleloader) and about one-third camera hunt. Feature articles dealing with deer biology or behavior should be documented by scientific research (the author or that of others) as opposed to a limited number of personal observations.
Freelance material is also accepted for one of our regular departments. “Deer Browse” contains short items reporting unusual observations of deer behavior, unique hunting experiences and newsworthy information.
Deer & Deer Hunting is published 11 times annually, with the following cover date: February, April, June, Summer, Equipment Annual, July, August, September, October, November, December.

We prefer action shots of white-tailed deer, as opposed to portraits. We also use photos showing hunters engaged in deer hunting and related activities. For the front cover we prefer vertical transparencies that have ample space at the top of the photo to allow for the magazine masthead. We use only photos of live deer in natural settings for the cover of the magazine.
We accept digital photos. We do not accept print or slide photography.
Digital photos should be saved as high-resolution tiff or jpeg file formats at 300 dpi.

Contributors are required to sign editorial/photography contracts, which grant Media 360, LLC, all rights (non-exclusive) to re-use of images in digital and online versions of all content without further compensation.
