Review: Infinity X1 5000 Blood-Trailing Flashlight

Tracking wounded deer requires practice, patience and knowledge of whitetail behavior. Once you have down, however, it can be one of the most satisfying parts of the hunt. Preparation is also key, and that’s why I have a fanny pack that’s dedicated solely to tracking deer and field-dressing them.

The new Infinity X1 5000 flashlight.

Flashlights (yes, plural) are the most important inclusions in my trailing pack. I always carry several: a headlamp, main trailing light, and backup (or two). You just never know when your power will run out … or if you will have enough light for that particular trail. And, believe me, there are times when less light is better (not often, but it happens).

Of course, MORE light is always better, and I think I might have just stumbled on one of the better trailing flashlights available to deer hunters.

It’s called the Infinity X1, and it’s the company’s new for 2024 version — a 5,000 lumen light that runs off of both standard batteries (nine AAs) or a rechargeable bank.

The X1 5000 is a workhorse. It’s 12 inches long (think Mag Light) and produces an extremely bright yet consistent beam. The beam is adjustable to three brightness settings, and can also be adjusted for wide to narrow beam twist focus.

The best part of the light is its light saturation. No hot spots. It casts an even light even at the highest setting. This is critical when trailing wounded whitetails. Blood shows up easily and allows for faster tracking.

The Infinity X1 5,000-lumen model retails for $39.99 online and just $29.99 in-store at Costco.
