Hanus Tapped to Lead Bergara Division

BPI Outdoors has hired Marine Corps Master Sergeant Dan Hanus to head the custom rifle shop for its Bergara division.

Hanus, a 22-year veteran, was most recently stationed at Quantico, Va., where he served as the Production Chief and Chief Instructor for the Marine Corps Precision Weapons Section. In this capacity, Hanus oversaw production of special weapons for Marine snipers stationed all over the world, as well as for the Corps’ competitive shooting teams.

The majority of Bergara’s sales are concentrated in OEM barrels, as an original equipment supplier to numerous well known firearms brands in Europe and the United States. Bergara also produces and sells after-market drop-in barrels to fit Remington, Savage, T/C, and various A/R style rifles, all of which have become very popular among end users and gunsmiths alike.

“We have seen very impressive growth with our Bergara barrels over the past couple of years, and we look forward to expanding that business further through the addition of finished rifles to the Bergara product offering – with both a production line and a custom line.” said BPI Outdoors CEO Dudley McGarity.

“Dan brings a lot of value to the Bergara Custom brand by enabling us to provide serious shooters with the unique opportunity to spec out their own dream gun, have it custom-crafted just for them, and to know that it was built by an individual with unsurpassed real-world experience in precision, long-range firearms.”

Bergara’s custom-rifle services were begun in early 2012, offering various configurations of precision bolt-action rifles, all built around the now famous Bergara barrel.  The first Bergara production rifle, the Bergara BX11, made its European debut at the 2012 IWA Show in Nuremburg, Germany, and will be unveiled to the American market at SHOT Show 2013.  Mr. Hanus will be heavily involved in the future development of both of these product lines, as well as overseeing the general repair services for BPI Outdoors’ CVA brand.
