Injured Buck on Turnpike Causes Christmas Chaos

Talk about a chaotic situation that could have been far worse given the possibility of worse weather conditions.

An 8-point buck ran into a lane of a turnpike near Oak Ridge, Tenn., and was struck by 20-year old Deahna Moore. The deer then crawled into the eastbound lanes of traffic. A woman stopped her Lexus in the road for the deer, and a man stopped his truck behind her car, with his hazard lights on.

Foggy conditions and terrain caused what officials say was a three-car chain reaction when a third vehicle struck the man’s truck, which hit the Lexus and knocked it off the road.

A traffic jam ensued. One person was transported to the hospital.
