Step 4: Prepare the Arrows for Inserts

The arrow companies make it really easy for us these days to prep the shafts for inserts and vanes. Shown in the accompanying photo are the basic essentials. To prep the shafts, you’ll need to rough up the inside of the freshly cut end of the arrow. This will allow the adhesive to stick better and keep the insert in there basically forever. I’ve used sandpaper in the past, but I learned that a thin gun-cleaning brush works best.
