Mackelmore, left, sings: “I’m gonna pop some tags. Only got twenty dollars in my pocket. I – I – I’m hunting, looking for a come-up. This is (expletive) awesome.”

If you don’t listen to popular music, you might not know who the guy in this picture is, but he is currently the co-author of the hottest song in America right now, “Thrift Store.”

The musician goes by the name of Mackelmore, and he is an indie rapper/R&B artist from Seattle. He has gotten so big that he headlined last weekend on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”

I love his choice of attire in this clip from his video. More proof that trophy white-tailed bucks are cool! My only question is: How long will it be until a hunting parody is made of this song? With the catch phrase, “I’m gonna pop some tags,” I can easily see how a band like Bananas at Large, Shad Rap, or possibly Da Yoopers, could turn this into another deer season anthem.

Besides, with doe tags currently selling for just $2 apiece here in Wisconsin, anyone could have an awesome time with “twenty dollars in their pocket.”

This is flipping awesome, indeed.
