I never thought I’d see the day when I’d witness a bowhunter arrow two coyotes with one shot. Shooting any game animal while bowhunting is a feat to appreciated. It used to be a lot harder, especially back in the day when we all shot with our fingers and used (by today’s standards) slow bows and heavy arrows.

One of the coolest things that has ever happened to me occurred (completely by accident, mind you) in 1999 when I killed two whitetails with one arrow. It was a brisk October evening when I had a mature doe walk within 15 yards of my stand. I was so focussed on making the shot with my Mathews MQ-32 that I failed to see she was standing perfectly broadside and side-by-side with a much smaller doe. The arrow zipped through the chest cavities of both deer, killing them within seconds.

Yes, I’ve seen a lot of things in the bowhunting woods over the past 30 years, but this one is a first. A treestand bowhunter takes down two coyotes with one shot — at 50 yards.

Any seasoned bowhunter can appreciate this video. It’s hard enough to have a coyote come within bow range and not see you. It’s another to merely get to full draw on a coyote. Well, Christopher Jay did all that and pulled off the unthinkable. It’s pretty incredible.
