It took some time — and a lot of miles of walking — but my son, Lance, found the matching antler shed to the deer we have nicknamed “The White Horned Buck.”

We have been watching this deer for several seasons. He will be a real dandy this fall. I saw him twice during bowhunting season in 2011, then I saw him at least three times while I was out looking for deer antler sheds earlier this year.

Deer antler sheds are in season!

We aren’t sure, but we think this buck will be 4-1/2 years old this fall. Can’t wait to see what he grows for “horns” this year. He should add some serious mass, plus additional length on those tines.

That’s the report for today. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for much of the same: sunshine!
