From The Ashes Flies The Flaming Arrow of Hope

Whew! That was a close one! I’ve had my bouts with sicknesses and a handful of various health issues over 72 years, but this Chinese virus is a stone-cold doozy!

I never had the German measles, the Spanish flu, the West Nile virus, the Swine Flu, the Hong Kong flu or any of the other geographically originated diseases over my lifetime, but this China bug hit me like a ton of toxic bricks broadside!

We can’t really say we can imagine what it’s like to be dying, but I am convinced I got a sneak peek into the belly of that nasty beast this past week or so.

Even during severe influenza conditions in the past, I was still able to get tough and defy the symptoms to at least the degree where I could go on with basic life functions like reduced chores, some managed family activities, even daily minimized fun with my dogs and outside stuff.

But not this time. It took every last ounce of energy, spirit and inner effort just to get from minute to minute and keep my hopes alive.

It was scary.

Beyond the bombardment of love and support from my incredible family and widespread army of dear friends, the onslaught of prayers and positive energy was not only matched, but seriously eclipsed by the global phenomena of social media, delivering a truly stunning volume of sincere support and love the likes of which truly caught me off guard.

I literally heard from the best people in the world from every corner of planet earth.

To everyone out there who reminded me how compassionate, empathetic, loving and caring our fellow man can be, a big gushing and humble thank you from the bottom of my American heart and soul.

Getting the best of proven care from the famous Frontline Doctors team, both Shemane and I together got right on the most successful medical regimen there is. We started immediately to pound the Hydroxychloroquine, Ivermectin, steroids, vitamin D3, C, B12, Zinc, oil of oregano, and plenty of hydration and quality rest.

We know many friends who got the vaccine and still contracted the Chinese virus. We know of many, many people who wore masks and social distanced and also got the COVID.

We also know many people who tested positive and had no symptoms, while at the same time many people had every imaginable and varying degree of extremely debilitating symptoms.

We have friends who were over it within days and others who suffered seriously for six to eight weeks and sometimes longer.

And of course, we know of many people who did not survive.

It is all very tragic, and good people all over the world pray for their fellow man.

Each passing day brings a very welcome hint of improvement, and it is here that I return to my lifetime proven mantra of the healing powers of nature, most emphatically via the mystical flight of the arrow.

Now to some, this claim may seem silly, even cosmic at best, but here at the Uncle Ted spirit backstrap campfire, I have a feeling more than most grasp and celebrate exactly what I’m talking about.

After a few days of literally dragging myself out of bed, I took a deep breath and headed to the 3D archery range out my back door, grabbed my Mathews bow and a fistful of arrows, and slowly but surely squared off to the targets and let fly.

The relief was immediate and profound.

My sickly feelings dissipated instantly upon nocking my first arrow.

By the time I attached my release to the string loop, my head-to-toe body aches began to slip away, and at full draw the world was temporarily peaceful and calm.

As my archery muscle army came to full command, powerful inner driving instincts owned the air of my world, cleansed my soul, healed my heart, drained my body of pain, and upon completion of my archery shot sequence, my arrow smacked nicely into the small square of orange tape right there in the pumpstation crease of the giant Rinehart moose target.

Oh glory, glory hallelujah and pass the curing lightning bolts of mind, body, heart and soul spirit peace!

In between arrows, I smiled broadly, knowing that mind over matter is the end-all, cure-all power that we all have within us, and thanked God for a lifetime of archery addiction as the ultimate takeaway in the unearthly world of out-of-body subconsciousness.

This may all sound ridiculously oversimplified to some, even downright goofy to others, but when all else in life fails us, I am convinced that the inner spirit burns strong deep inside all of us and it is just a matter of contemplating it, seeking it, knowing it, nurturing it, cultivating it, implementing it and celebrating it.

So, no matter what gets us down, fresh air and the escape into the great outdoors will always be there for us. May the healing arrows of your spirit fly true forever.
