For the exclusive benefit of ATA members, please click here for results from our Q3 ATA Retail Business Tracker Survey that collects information quarterly from shop owners and managers in four different regions used by the census bureau. A statistically significant number of ATA retail members (20+) were chosen in each region to provide information on overall sales, types of sales, and customer demographics. In addition, open ended questions on what consumers are talking about and challenges and concerns owners are facing provide insight into the current retail environment. The results from this survey are presented nationally as well as regionally, with the Q2 survey results shown for comparison.
Key takeaways from this survey shows every region seeing growth in sales this quarter which is not surprising given that Q3 is typically busiest for most of the country. Bows in the $900-$1200 price range comprised 27.8% of sales nationally and sold at the highest rate across all regions. While bow sales were up, it is worth noting that repair and maintenance was up as well, with many shops reflecting that customers were hanging onto their equipment longer due to inflation. A regulation change in New York regarding crossbows showed a spike in sales in that region at 37.89%. Retailer confidence is still positive at 6.5 for the next quarter.
