Hunters and 3D or target shooters keenly watch movies for accuracy and brands, and the interest in the latest big screen show from Marvel Studios is no exception. In Captain America: Civil War, the Avengers character Hawkeye returns to the group with a GameMaster II bow used to fling arrows at the villains.
“In the first Avengers [movie], Hawkeye was shooting the Hoyt Buffalo,” said Jeremy Eldredge of Hoyt Archery. “In the latest Avengers he is shooting the Hoyt GameMaster II. We have a good relationship with the prop house and have had our bows show up in several movies over the years, including Rambo, Charlie’s Angels, Hunger Games and Avengers.”
Nighthawk originally was a villain in his first appearance in Marvel’s print comic Tales of Suspense #57 (September 1964). He joined the Avengers in The Avengers #16 (May 1965) to fight evil. His movie character is played by Jeremy Renner.
In the Rambo movies, lead character John Rambo used several Hoyt bows, including the Spectra, GameMaster, Matrix and ProVantage. Lead character and heroine Katniss Everdeen shot
a stick bow in the original Hunger Games movie, sparking a noticeable interest in archery among youngsters. She switched to a Hoyt Buffalo for the second movie in the series.
“It’s pretty cool to have our bows on the big screen,” Eldredge said.
