DDH’s Cool ‘Deer on a Bike’ Video is an Award Finalist

One of the coolest and most-watched videos Deer & Deer Hunting ever has produced is a finalist for an international film award.

A video that DDH Online Video Producer Abbi Hehner created and posted last autumn of her father retrieving a deer from the Minnesota woods while riding a bike is a finalist for the Golden Helmet award at the 15th Annual Filmed by Bike festival. The event is May 5-7 in Portland, Ore., and features 80 finalists in different categories of long and short film. Festival-goers also will enjoy a street party, Q&A sessions with filmmakers, brewery tour and other events.
Here is the video entered in the contest:

“Hunters Get Deer From Woods on a Bicycle” is included in the Adventure Night screening. That’s one of six categories in the festival, which features the work of 74 filmmakers from 19 countries. The festival benefits NW Documentary, a non-profit organization that helps people tell their stories through film.

“I filmed that hunt the fall of 2012,” Hehner said. “My father and his friend, Chris Johnson, have been getting the deer out on the bikes for more than 20 years. it’s the only way they’ve done it since there’s no motor vehicles allowed on the trail.”

Hehner’s video generated more than 6 million views for Deer & Deer Hunting on its various platforms including deeranddeerhunting.comFacebook, Twitter, YouTube and Deerhunter.TV.
