Two of Georgia’s public shooting ranges located on Wildlife Management Areas will close for a short period of time beginning later this month, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division.

The two ranges are the Richmond Hill WMA Shooting Range and the Wilson Shoals WMA Shooting Range:

— Richmond Hill WMA Shooting Range, located in Bryan County, will temporarily close May 14 for safety reasons due to nearby timber management. Current plans are to re-open the 100-yard range by June 15.

— Wilson Shoals WMA Shooting Range, located near Gainesville in Hall County, will close May 22 so improvements can be completed on the 75-yard firearms range. These improvements include installing seating for waiting shooters, constructing a sign-in area, upgrading the restroom and installing a gun-cleaning station.
