Two deer hunters in Monroe County, Georgia called the police on Nov. 12 after a nearby man fired gunshots in their direction. One of the hunters, 61, said as he was walking into the woods the man was blasting loud music for 10 minutes. After, the hunter said he heard a gunshot “aimed in his direction,” a sheriff’s report said. The other hunter, 40, said he saw someone on their porch holding a pump-action shotgun.
A sheriff’s deputy later spoke to the man, 36, who had a 12-gauge shotgun on a chair. According to the deputy’s report, the man “turned his radio up very loudly to try and scare the deer away.” He also claimed he fired his gun, but not at the hunters. The deputy’s report said the man seemed “heavily intoxicated,” and he admitted to drinking eight shots of tequila while staying up “all night drinking and watching movies.” He was arrested for discharging a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.
