The hunting industry lost a pioneer this morning with the passing of Bob Walker, founder of Walker’s Game Ear. He was 62.
A current resident of Forksville, Pa., Bob was born in Philadelphia and was a renowned deer and turkey hunter in his home state and across North America. He became a licensed audiologist and used that expertise to develop the first line of hearing aids for the hunting industry. He was one of the pioneer national advertisers in Deer & Deer Hunting Magazine.
After running Walker’s Game Ear for more than 17 years, he sold the company to GSM, best known for its Stealth Cam product line. He still championed the product, however, as it allowed hearing disabled hunters to rediscover — and sometimes discover — the deer and turkey woods for quality hunting time.
Walker was also co-host of the popular Sportsmen’s Outdoor Strategies TV show which aired on Fox Sports Net and Versus for many seasons.
Recently, Walker was involved in launching a new company, Slayer Crossbows.
Legendary turkey hunter and callmaker Ray Eye of Missouri was one of Bob’s many friends.
“The hunting world is a lesser place today,” Eye said. “The hunting industry has lost one of our own, my hunting brother and friend Bob Walker is now hunting up in heaven, until we meet again my friend.”
Everyone at Deer & Deer Hunting and F+W Outdoors group extends their heartfelt sympathies to Bob’s family and many friends.
