The Wisconsin deer season will be here in just a few short months. Here’s when hunters can head out with their bows or firearms, as well as how harvest numbers have changed over the years.
Wisconsin season dates:
- Archery & Crossbow: Sept. 13 to Jan. 4*
- (*Archery/Crossbow runs through Jan. 31 in 37 counties)
- Youth Hunt: Oct. 11 and 12
- General Firearms: Nov. 22 to 30
- Muzzleloader: Dec. 1 to 10
- Antlerless-Only (gun and bow): Dec. 11 to 14
- Holiday hunt (antlerless) Dec. 24 to Jan. 1
Wisconsin increased its statewide antlerless quota by 7% over last year. This year’s quota is 291,385 antlerless deer.
In 2024, hunters combined to kill 321,844 deer (220,240, firearms; 101,604, archery). That’s nearly half the amount killed in 2000, Wisconsin’s best overall year ever. During that year, hunters took home 618,274 deer (528,494 firearms; and 86,899, archery).
