Who doesn’t love a good burger? These deer burgers, courtesy of Doulgas Hendershot, are slightly leaner, but equally tasty, alternatives to the traditional burger.

Ingredients
1 pound ground venison
1 pound fatty ground beef
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1 egg
2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
1 tablespoon finely chopped green pepper
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Directions
Combine ingredients, and form into patties. Grill over medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes. At about the 4 to 5 minute mark, put a slice of smoked provolone cheese on top. Put on a bun, add your fixings and enjoy!
