Foodie Friday: Venison Sausage Gravy

We’re switching things up this Foodie Friday! Today’s recipe is for the breakfast lovers. If you have venison breakfast sausage in your freezer, bust it out and whip up this Venison Sausage Gravy. It’s easy!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground venison breakfast sausage
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups (1 pint) whole milk
  • cracked black pepper
  • salt to taste

Directions

Cook venison breakfast sausage on medium heat in a large skillet until fully cooked through. While cooking, melt butter in the microwave. Slowly whisk the flour into the melted butter to form a roux. Pour the roux onto the breakfast sausage in the skillet, turning heat down to medium-low. Then, slowly pour the milk into the skillet while stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. Add salt and pepper and mix together. Pour this Venison Sausage Gravy on top of your biscuits and enjoy a delicious breakfast!
