Stay with me here. I know my overworked hands and fingers and fatigued mind, body, spirit, soul and sacred temple can do this. It doesn’t really take all that much effort and energy to type simple words on my smoldering, abused laptop, and I know I’m up for the task at hand.
Fueled by another steaming hot cup of NugeJava Sin-O-Man joe and the always inspiring flaming visions of mystical arrows in flight headed straight for a multitude of unsuspecting herbivore pumpstations, I know I can do this. I know I can. I know I can!
So here goes!
Lord have mercy! What a hunting season! What a phenomenal, glorious hunting season it has been! So far!
Yes! I said “so far!!”
With glowing, licking flames casting lovely, dancing shadows across my SpiritWild Ranch Texas home, two very tired but very happy Labrador retrievers at my feet and the cold Texas winds whipping my little duckpond outside my window, if I were any happier I’d squirt right off this deeranddeerhunting.com page and stain all of you with UltraLoveFire!
There is such a thing I hope you know.
And for anybody who is so incredibly fortunate to hunt every day like I do, your production of UltraLoveFire would be as immeasurable as mine is.
Now add to that beyond the dream of hunting every day to the insanity of God actually steering handsome creatures in my direction and within the terminal dangerzone of my Mathews bows, and what we have here is backstrap heaven on earth.
I kicked off my huntseason 2014 way back in mid-August following the most wonderful rock-n-roll tour of my life. The soul cleansing, spirit calming essence of my bowhunting lifestyle immediately brought me back to the good earth, and though my batteries were already overcharged to a borderline illegal high, I nonetheless welcomed and as always, cherished the return to my favorite time of year.
My first arrow and first kill was ceremoniously celebrated in the early Nebraska season, then more exotics at home in Texas.
A phenomenal bear kill adventure erupted in the sacred hunting grounds of Michigan’s effervescent Upper Peninsula with great Yooper BloodBrothers, then the Michigan deerseason began on our old family grounds in Jackson County.
Good Lord almighty, special memories never stopped!
Back home in Texas in December, I swan dived into what can best be described as the greatest deerhunting of my life. Even though I experienced many extended periods of getting skunked royal, my good luck on enough occasions more than made up for the frustrating hours, days and even weeks with nary a critter to be encountered.
But when one hunts every day, bad luck will eventually morph into goodluck, and I was morphing quite nicely, thank you.
With the beautifully sensible Texas Parks and Wildlife Managed Land Deer Permit program, private land owners are able to get the proper amount of buck and antlerless tags to responsibly manage and balance the deer herds on our own land.
Never forgetting why our Founding Fathers came to this brave new world, knowing that the wildlife belongs to we the people, not the punk king, it surely is inspiring to have such policy reflecting this logical, self-evident truth.
And the arrow just kept on flying!
And the arrows just keep on flying, for our Texas MLDP deerseason throttles on right up to the last day of February, and let it be known by all good men that this old guitarplaying bowhunter will be in my favorite ambush stand every day right till dark on February 28.
I think it was Al Capone to so eloquently stated, “Every man has to have enthusiasms.”
Well, let it be known I do indeed have the most enthusiastic enthusiasms of any man, anywhere at any time, and I thank the Good Lord above for giving me the stuff for my American Dream.
Between firebreathing rock-n-roll and my bowhunting, I just may very well be the happiest American Dreamer the world has ever known.
That’s my story and attitude, and I’m sticking with them.
I will also be sticking some other things on a pretty regular basis as well. God I love this thing called life!
