Good grief, my guitar is LOUD! The whole band is really LOUD! Every wonderful song we krank out like animals is wildly intense and very LOUD! Over in England they call me Loudman!
Isn’t that precious. You might not agree that my 60 year nonstop blitzing repertoire of lovesongs qualifies as precious, but I must insist, and real soulmusic lovers everywhere agree, my music, guitar licks, songs, lyrics and entire career and attitude can best be described as precious.
That’s just the way it is, and oh what fun it is!
So, what, you may legitimately ask, does such a precious fullblown rock-n-roll career have to do with deer and deerhunting?
As my killer band and I jam like Chuck Berry possessed animals everyday in preparation for our SONIC BAPTIZM tour all summer long across America in 2016, the ferocity of our American soundtrack is more intense than any other band anywhere, not just because Greg Smith and Jason Hartless and I try harder and are just better musicians, but surely because of the unique atmosphere of our rehearsals.
The walls of my studio are covered in handsome critters from around the world. There is my 1st recurve bow killed majestic Colorado muledeer monarch from September 10, 1975.
Keeping watch over the sonic bombast proceedings is my beautiful 1st recurve killed Michigan 12 point whitetail buck from October 10, 1975.
The very powerful spirit of the black bears, griz, muskox, elk, caribou, moose, all those stunning whitetails, kudu, warthog, hartebeest, nyala and so many other amazing creatures and the memories that go with them permeate the room and shower down upon us throughout the days.
As if the spirit of the beast’s beauty isn’t enough, the daily grilling celebration of their sacred flesh goes way beyond the eye candy stimuli and straight into our bellies and into our souls.
We shoot bows and arrows and have some friendly marksmanship competitions in between jam sessions, and I am here to tell you, no matter whether you krank maniacally on guitars, bass or drums, or put your heart and soul into being the best welder, mechanic, plumber, farmer, rancher, cop, soldier, ditch digger, landscaper, janitor, business man or woman, CEO or whatever your chosen profession in life, these deerhunting based activities and lifestyle will make you better at whatever you do.
I promise you. Know it.
When we are surrounded by our critter BloodBrothers of the Great Spirit of the Wild, dine on their gifts of protein, re-create our spirits with the aim small miss small joys and disciplines of the shooting sports, then take a walk on the wild side into our enchanted forests, swamps, marshes, fields and fens, our spirits and souls are fortified to the max and the music erupts with a renewed life of its own!
So even during the somewhat doldrums of summer, never fail to take every possible opportunity to get away, get back and head into the wild again where such magical escape time will cleanse the soul and re-ignite your energy stream.
Workin’ hard’ playin’ hard is the ultimate battlecry for a healthy balance in life. Thank God we are hunters and know exactly how to get away from the intensity of our dedicated jobs by simply doing what we love so much.
I can’t wait to perform my 6518th high energy concert this Friday in New Hampshire, then onward to wrap up what will surely be the best tour of my life when we end in Oklahoma for my 6570th rockout on September 4th.
Thank God this old guitarboy was smart enough to live the Spirit of the Wild from birth and keep that spirit on fire all these years.
THEN boy oh boy oh boy oh boy! It’s all hunt hunt hunt hunt hunt nonstop everyday to March 2017.
Have the greatest summer of your lives, but hit the wild every chance you get. It does indeed cleanse the soul!
