DDH Editor-in-Chief Dan Schmidt was in Kansas with Xtreme Hunts when he spied a fine buck limping along before it came into range.
Schmidt has seen thousands of deer during his time in the woods, so he knew something wasn’t right about this old bruiser.
Here’s Schmidt’s report: Great hunt at Xtreme Hunts in Kansas tonight. This old buck had a club foot and could barely walk so we did the right thing and happily tagged him. What a great season 2015 has been!
Some hunters will do what Schimdt did and tag out on a buck like this, which might eventually have succumbed to tangling with coyotes. Others would have passed on the buck.
