Problems with urban whitetail deer are nothing new, and the Flagstaff City Council is considering what to do about a problem in the northern Arizona town.
The Continental Country Club homeowners association has asked the council for some kind of relief, including consideration of a ban, about feeding deer and elk. Some of the country club’s homeowners are upset about not only the deer munching on their lawns and flowers, but also at least one resident among them who feeds the deer.
Flagstaff Mayor Jerry Nabours has been approached by homeowners. Apparently the city has no regulations or laws about feeding wildlife. Homeowners are finding cropped plants and “steaming piles of waste,” Nabours said in this report.
