Ohio is one of the nation’s big buck states, and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources also has some big fines for poachers. A five-year old law provides for fines to be based on the Boone & Crockett score of a buck. The controversial fines, or restitution as the Ohio DNR calls them, have reached almost $28,000 in some cases. While the amounts can be argued as too harsh, there’s no doubt they have gotten the attention of the poachers, hunters and general public. (Photos: Ohio DNR)
