Each year hunters in Texas have been surprised and rewarded with encounters and much-appreciated exotic venison from everything from African kudu, waterbuck, impala, zebra, elk, red stags and assorted critters from around the world, that have escaped over time from exotic game ranches and provided one heck of a bonus from the wild.
I constantly celebrate my extreme good fortune to share deer hunting campfires with the best people. Life’s blessings come in many forms, but to connect so intimately, so often, every season with so many great families could very well be the greatest blessing of them all.
I’ve been hopelessly addicted to the mystical flight of the arrow from a very young age, and thank God, that archery/bowhunting love affair has only increased at a breakneck pace every year since.
I’ve lamented often how after moving to Texas 19 years ago, that I so miss my favorite snowy bowhunts in the winter wonderland. Alas! My white-on-white dream snowstorm hunt finally came, and I didn’t even have to fly back to the Great Midwest!
Keep that hunting spirit alive with all you’ve got. Planned and prioritized intelligently, the hunt never ends. There is no such thing as too much fun!
When approached with the proper mindset, each and every hunt will provide important lessons in not only how to be more efficient deer hunters, but more importantly, how these powerful lessons of cause and effect can be applied to our everyday lives for overall upgrade.
The toxic ingredients that made 2020 so bad are tragically still with us as we zoom into 2021. My recommendation is to learn from what works best to mitigate the bad stuff and cleverly pursue that which maximizes the good stuff. Good luck, Godspeed, Happy New Year and good hunting forever.

With just one week left in the crazy year 2020, it could be more important now than ever to get back in the wild, where all is good, all is silent, all is calm, all is bright in an otherwise dark year.
As I celebrate my birthday and many of you celebrate yours, and we are about to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ, it appears that many of our fellow Americans are igniting a spirit birthday of their own, and digging down deep into their soul to flex that most important of human muscles: independence!
The very future of conservation and the life and death of the supportive sporting goods industry is in the hands of great American entrepreneur families across the country, and we salute them all. Being the hopeless mystical-flight-of-the-arrow addict that I am, some of my most joyous memories in life took place at archery shops across America.
