Thank you to everyone who liked or commented on our Facebook post asking the question: What is deer hunting to me? See some of your answers as well as photos below.
Scott Worth: It’s time in nature with family and good friends. Some of my best hunting trips I never took a deer.
Allen Harrington: Since I am single and live alone my answer is rather quite simple. It gets me outdoors in the fall, I get to fill my freezer with organic meat, and help manage the resource for future generations to enjoy.
Richard A McCully: My hunting buddy.
Chris Poplin: Deer hunting is my me time. I can recharge my mind, relax, and just enjoy being out in nature seeing animals. Getting a deer is a bonus.
Rick Riegel: Solitude!
Carol Alexander: Time to enjoy being out in nature and enjoy the outdoors. Time to check out those areas you intend to hunt. Time to match wits with the game you intend to hunt. Time to reflect on your success and failures. Time to enjoy the results of your hunting. Time to think about future hunts and plans for next season.
Brian Furniss: My getaway from the hustle and bustle of the real world. A time to decompress and enjoy the pace that only mother nature can produce.
DB Burrell: That’s what it is for me!!
Ross Howard: An outdoor activity to hopefully feed me & help conservation.
Barbara Pooler Brunetti: Meat on the table.
Holly Cockerham: Quiet time to reflect on God’s creation, heighten my senses, and provide food for my family and if I’m extra blessed that day maybe take home a lil somethin’ to put on the wall.
Kerry Tody: Obsession.
Jeff Scott: Scouting, game planning, matching wits with big ole mature Midwestern whitetails and getting lucky occasionally.
David Fontone: Best way I know to spend time with my Dad who passed away in ’86.
Bud Cummings: Time in the woods with my sons money can’t buy! Just being in the woods can’t be compared to anything other than family.
Walter Harvey: It’s that absolute relaxation and exhilaration at the same time.
James Hill: Making memories that last a lifetime with family and friends.
