C’mon and Fight Like We the People

I remember when I decided I wanted to carry a gun for an assortment of commonsense, practical purposes way back in the roaring 1960s. Having graduated from the American so called “education system” it was no surprise that I was hopelessly clueless regarding laws, American history, social conditions, and the basic American self-evident truth based individual freedoms as outlined in the US Constitution and our sacred Bill of Rights.

My pure human intellectual instincts made it perfectly clear to me that I surely had the non-infringed natural God given individual right to keep and bear arms, regardless of whether our courageous founding fathers had decided to write it down or not.

What on God’s good green earth could possibly be more natural than the right and means to self-defense?

What indeed sayeth the unholy?

I started packing a handsome little 2” Smith and Wesson Model 19 stainless steel .357 Magnum loaded with Winchester 125 grain +P+ slammers with a speedloader in each front pocket of my jeans.

Made perfect sense to me, what with all the rampant crime in my beloved Motorcity, not to mention the occasional varmint that needed whacking in my never ending road less-traveled meanderings.

Young teenage Ted; cocked locked and ready to rock doc. How pure can one possibly be I ask you?

Some hunters prefer a specific caliber for long-range shots such as out west for mule deer or whitetails.

Not so fast rock-n-roll backstrap breath, not so darn fast!

Turns out that in my homestate of Michigan, and pretty much every other state in the nation that I traveled and rocked in, much to my chagrin, there was no 2nd Amendment. No keeping and bearing arms around here pilgrim!

I was aghast! It was my first dead-end head-banging encounter with the indecency of political correctness and the scourge of bureaucratic freedom whittling power abuse gone mad.

Of course I improvised, adapted and overcame post haste, for I knew definitively in my heart of hearts that I did indeed have this natural right to self-defense to protect my sacred God given gift of life.

It was at that time that I went on my own self-defined holy war against the absurdity of counterproductive, nonsensical laws, rules and regulations that I discovered were running amok across this otherwise great United States of America.

Well, I am rather proud to celebrate that after much battling and never ending education of our elected employees across America, we have at least rectified that insane anti-freedom, crime inspiring insanity by upgrading our right to keep and bear arms to varying degrees in all 50 states.

God bless the mighty NRA members and all we the people participants out there.

Here at deeranddeerhunting.com, we have the same sort of battle before us when it comes to straightening out so many absurd game laws found in every state in the nation.

Just like our 2nd Amendment rights, our founding fathers came to this brave new world to make sure the punk king didn’t claim ownership to the game. We the people own the game and we elect employees to do our bidding for self-evident truth based conservation of resource stewardship responsibilities.

We must end the mindless scourge in those states that still dare to hire killers with our tax dollars to kill our deer, elk, bears, cougars and other game that we are forbidden to hunt and utilize.

We must drive home the obvious truth that in those states where baiting is legal, no problems exist and that the choice to bait should be legal.

The Sunday hunting bans that still exist in 10 states are as anti-American as anti-American can be.

In those states that don’t allow bait or hounds for bear or other game but have the audacity to waste our tax dollars hiring killers to use bait and hounds to clean up after our forced under-harvest must end immediately.

When so many states that have no minimum legal hunting age experience zero problems associated with it, surely all states should also eliminate the minimum hunting age.

When some states like Massachusetts have unnecessarily short seasons but squawk about overpopulations of deer, somebody should wake them up and extend the damn deerseasons and bag limits.

Bowcase laws, guncase laws, uncased firearms and bows on or in motor-vehicles, hunter orange laws, magazine capacity, shotgun only regions, shooting hours, tag drawings, season lengths and so many other considerations that so often have nothing to do with safety or wildlife biology must be reviewed, examined and when appropriate, fixed and updated for more and better recruitment, retention, family hours of recreation, safer hi-ways, healthier habitat, healthier wildlife and more conservation dollars generated for better hunting.

Let us make 2016 the year that we the people take control and demand accountability from our elected employees, not just in game departments, but from all branches of government overall. Caring Americans must be zeroed in on November 2016 as a do or die moment in this sacred experiment in self-government, and if the deerhunting fraternity can’t do it, nobody can.

Make UPGRADE the battlecry of 2016!
