Adios 2021 and welcome 2022 everyone!
Well, those last 12 months will go down in history as a very special time, dontchya think! Lord have mercy, what a bizarre year it has been. And as the good Lord does indeed have mercy upon us, we can thank Him eternally for giving us the greatest gift of all by making us hunters, celebrating the wonderful healing powers of His nature miracle.
It is indeed the incredible hunting lifestyle that better fortified our clan to deal with the ugly absurdity of runaway stupid 2021, and I for one reveled in the totality of escape from stupid that my bowhunting provided in between battles for good over evil and the beautiful American Dream versus whatever this rot is that they are pounding us with.
A hard earned, spirit fortifying, sizzling backstrap on the grill represents the perfection of our dedicated participation in God’s natural order, and if that doesn’t cleanse the soul, I don’t know what will.
Swandiving headstrong into my 73rd hunting season in life back in August of last year, the great Spirit of the Wild called my name with more voluminous ferocity than ever before. Intensified by the recording of a killer roster of all-American rock ‘n’ roll R&B masterpieces for my new album “Ted Nugent-Detroit Muscle,” my 2021 spring, summer, fall and now winter were filled with unlimited joys and happiness, in spite of the otherwise numbnut world around me.
As an American who dares to constantly demand Constitutional accountability from my elected employees, (you know, that darn persnickety controversial we the people radical stuff) I find myself in the swirling dust of spirit-to-spirit combat with nasty politicos on a regular, nonstop basis, and cleansing my soul from wrestling with swine is elevated to a life and death survival match.
New Years is traditionally the time of resolutions, gameplans for quality-of-life upgrades, and in our wonderful hunting life, such upgrades are easy to identify and declare.
How about we start with resolving to hunt more! Maybe hunt smarter! How about we declare to introduce someone to the deep joys of archery and or marksmanship and the mighty Spirit of the Wild outdoor celebration! How about many someones!
How about we resolve to honestly identify those ridiculous, arbitrary, counterproductive gamelaw regulations infesting all 50 states that have nothing to do with safety or wildlife management. You know what they are.
How about instead of avoiding ruffling feathers, we man-up and start acting like real Americans and start plucking some bureaucrat feathers that are long overdue to be plucked.
Howsabout we help our fellow hunters get over some of the bad habits that bring us painful moments, like target panic in our archery dreams and the dreaded buckfever flinch curse at triggertime!
Howsabout we take a deep breath, honestly and intensely review our lives and daily procedures in and out of the wild to become more tuned in, more conscientious, more caring, more empathetic, more compassionate, more forgiving, more understanding, more patient, more loving, more generous, more accountable and more American.
Whoa! That was a mouthful wouldn’t you say.
But those are the things that your lowly guitarboy considers on a regular basis, and I am here to tell you, each and every one of them creates a very gratifying sense of fulfillment that is contagious and far reaching.
I say we all resolve to fireup more American Campfires to better connect with our families and friends, thereby making our inner circles stronger, which will make out neighborhoods and communities stronger, which will inevitably make our beloved America stronger.
You do realize it is absolutely, 100% doable, don’t you!
A very happy, blessed 2022 to you all, and may this New Year bring much health and happiness, and may all your dreams become reality. A strong you is a strong us, and a strong us is a strong nation.
Godbless America, and may the Great Spirit be forever at your side in 2022 and beyond.
