Ladies and Gentlemen of the Great SpiritWild bowhunting brotherhood, start your predator projectile engines and send your arrows home!
Ahhhhhhh……. Rejoice, won’t you, as we celebrate with maximum gusto that ever-loving, effervescent, soul stirring, heartslamming, physics spirituality mystical flight of the October arrow like we mean it!
By Ted Nugent
Archers, draw your bows, pick a spot, aim small and miss small and let ‘er fly into the backstrap foreverland!
It is here! The month we have all been waiting for since last October! Rejoice as we stealth forth as servants of the Lord, harvesting His miraculous renewable wildlife as He requested/demanded in His goodbook;”Go therefore I beseech you, take thy bow and arrow and get me some venison…”.
Sayeth the Lord, for God’s sake! No really, for God’s sakes!!
OK then. This natural sustain yield season-O-harvest isn’t just a human idea/responsibility, it is nothing less than God’s creation and plan.
Yes Sir! We shall obey Thee, SIR!
Be the path or your arrow! Be the mystical flight! Take charge of your life/arrow as we become one with the arch, the path and the vision!

Quiet now! Shhhhhh…..! Listen very closely. Can you hear it? Was that the ‘swoosh’ of our spiritual projectiles on a mission of mercy into the wild blue yonder, heat seeking the pumpstation of unsuspecting protein infested herbivores? Or was that the death dive of our brother the hawk, on its own natural instinctive mission to snatch some life giving protein from its own selected prey?
Either way, the perfection of God’s tooth, fang and claw ballet is unfolding all across the hinterland in the magical and unique “O” month , and it is indeed time for Gonzo joy, supreme happiness and spiritual celebration as we once again put forth the Herculean bowhunting effort to bring surplus creatures to bag in our never ending duty to earn another Thanksgiving.
As the sacred season-O-harvest unleashes and throttles on like the force of nature it is and we are, I get a little weak in the knees just knowing that the enormous army of Fred Bear bowhunting BloodBrothers are spirit deep into this special time of year that guides and nurtures our very being and illuminates the soul of man the reasoning predator like no other.
Moms, dads, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters, grandparents, aunts and uncles, BloodBrothers unlimited trek afield, bows and arrows in hand, executing that spine tingling higher level of awareness that is the bowhunting lifestyle.
I know bowhunters, many, many bowhunters, and each and every one of them is gungho, hardcore, radical, extreme, and way over the top dedicated to this ultra-challenging form of borderline impossible sustenance procurement. Anyone that fails to approach this greatest of sport any other way, will give up and be forced to buy chicken.
There is no such thing as a casual bowhunter. Casual bowhunters fall away and go back to golf and bowling, or worse, couch time, succumbing to the horrors, pain and embarrassment of projectile dis-function, losing that special fire, that special drive, that pure animal craving for connecting with the beasts of our dreams that brings such indescribable giddiness into our lives.
Now, mind you, I live for firearms marksmanship, rifle, pistol and all forms of gun hunting and gun fun, (in fact I dream with crosshair vision!) but with all due respect to my fellow ballistic BloodBrothers, I surely admit that there is an incredible sense of genuine accomplishment that we earn and derive from every hard earned gun kill. Every kill is indeed very, very special every time, every critter.
But multiply those sensations by about a million or so, and know that is what every bowkill represents. It is that amazing!
Let’s face it; every hunt is FUN, every hunt is SPORT, every kill is a Trophy , and every kill provides sacred Meat.

Fun, Sport, Trophy, Meat. Cannot hunt without all four glowing truths.
Preparing for the hunt is more fun than anything I can imagine.
The challenges necessary for outsmarting mystical game animals and making that precise shot under field conditions is sport like no other.
Every hard earned kill, whether a hoary old groundhog or a majestic wapiti stag is a trophy of a lifetime to every bowhunter I know.
And of course the universal driving force to hunt always comes down to the cherished venison for our family, friends and neighbors.
I repeat: Fun, Sport, Trophy, Meat.
Those four words embody hunting as I’ve known it and practiced it my entire life.
The nostril flaring and psyche stimulating woodsmoke and glowing embers of a million campfires burn brightly across the land and in our hearts.
I wish you all goodluck, good hunting, and may your beloved huntseason 2015/16 be the best of your lives.
Go gently into those game rich fields, swamps, mountains, prairies, deserts and farmlands my friends. Step wisely into the lair of the beasts. Bring your “A” game everytime. Hunt like the well trained, practiced, dedicated natural predators/resource stewards that we are. Share the special stories of every hunt with everyone you know. Be the pro-hunting public relations master delivering the natural truth and positive spirit of our hunting lifestyle everywhere you go.
Cleanse the soul, balance the good earth, share the organic, renewable flesh and be the best that you can be, and backstraps will be yours. Godspeed American deerhunters wherever you are.
